My name is Heli and I´m 40-year-old hunter. I´ve hunted for over thirty years. When I was under school age, I went hunting with my father and my grandfather. Hunting has been my passion ever since. At first, I hunted small game, such as hares and hens. My first game I shot, when I was eight years old, was a black grouse (male). Little by little I started to hunt bigger game as well. At the beginning I was beater in moose hunt, but then I changed from beater to shooter. After this there has been several successes in moose hunt for me (picture). Nowadays I also have two Karelian bear dogs, Joiku and Almmá, with me on a moose hunt.
So, what kind of a hunter I am? After years of hunting, I´ve became calm and compassionate hunter. I like when I can plan the hunt carefully; what kind of a clothes do I need, which hunting district I go, etc. I prefer wild boar stalking because it`s challenging and exiting way to hunt. I have shot dozens of wild boars during the last five years (picture) and still, after many successes, I think that these hunting situations are the best! Search, find, stalk close enough, shoot, succeed. That feeling cannot be described in words!
First of all, I hunt experiences and - surprise, surprise – trophies! I do hunting trips abroad almost
annually, for example to Scotland, Germany, Great Britain, etc. On the other hand, I am also an eternal
student and learner. I don't feel like I'm "done and ready" as a hunter because I want to learn something
new all the time. That´s why I got myself a bow couple of years ago and learned how to hunt with bow.
Today my biggest dream is to hunt a wild boar with bow.
As a final summary I would say, that hunting and game management defines my everyday life
throughout the year. Hunting is a way of life for me.
